Big Bass Challenge in the record books for 2012
LAKE WILSON, Kan., (Sept 15, 2012) — Big Bass Tournament News – Salina anglers Dell Mettlen and Jeremy Deneen walked away with the top prize after weighing in a 5.29 pound largemouth bass on Saturday at the Hays Bass Anglers Association’s 12th Annual Big Bass Challenge at Lake Wilson. Sixty boats and nearly 120 anglers participated in the event, which featured hourly weigh-ins. The late summer tournament was held just a week before the first official day of Fall, as the central Kansas weather was kind to anglers with calm winds and cool temperatures. According to HBAA officials, the event was a big success. Anglers were treated to a free barbecue at a gathering following the tournament where prize money was awarded to anglers weighing in the three biggest bass in each hour of the tournament. Sponsors also donated door prizes including a rod and reel combo and more. The Challenge, one of the more popular tournaments in the Midwest, was again part of Skeeter Boats’ Real Money Program. Wilson lived up to its expectations again this year as one of the best Kansas bass fishing destinations.
