Smallmouth tips scales at Big Bass Challenge

LAKE WILSON, Kan. (Sept. 19, 2015) — The team of Knueppel and Herrington brought in the biggest bass, a smallmouth weighing 2.89 pounds, to win the Hays BassBBC 2015 5 Anglers Association’s Big Bass Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Lake Wilson. Terry Knueppel of Coweta, Okla., weighed in the big fish in the 11 o’clock hour and that fish held the lead for the remainder of the day. Fifty-eight anglers in 29 boats competed in the event this year. This was the 15th year of the event. Anglers were treated to a barbeque at the conclusion of the event. Sponsors donated a variety of prizes in addition to the cash awards that were given to out to the top two places during each hour of the event.
